Heaven, hell, and where we will spend eternity … all that stuff … is so out of this world that in the middle of us just living life, for many people these things seem completely irrelevant. But one day, make no mistake, based on the decisions we make in this life, they’re the only thing that’s going to matter.

I was listening to some people joking on the radio the other day. They were joking about a group of Christians who believed that there was only one way to God and that one day, the earth would come to an end.  It’s understandable I guess. Most people laugh it off as a big joke.  The problem is that they haven’t even bothered to consider the bigger questions to life.  I mean, it seems so incredible to think that there’s a loving God and an eternity out there waiting for each one of us. People just can’t see it since they are consumed with themselves and focused on the business of life.

And yet, there is a God, there is a Heaven, there is a hell, there is an eternity, and one day this earth will come to an end. One day it will be all over and no amount of joking or mocking or disbelief is going to change that.

And when it is all over (in this life anyway), the only thing that’s going to matter is whether we made a decision to believe in Jesus and had a relationship with Him or not.

Revelation 20:15 says…And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Living our lives is a full-time job. We are all so busy. I know that we all face different stresses and strains, ups and downs, and twists and turns. These things are unavoidable in the world in which we live.  But one day, perhaps sooner than we think, none of those things that we find so important today will matter.

One day, there is the certain prospect of a judgement that will determine your eternal future. On that day, I want to be standing with you before God, in the confidence of knowing that our names will be found in the Book of Life. The alternative, quite frankly, is not worth contemplating.

Take a moment to make sure you are in right relationship with God.  Don’t put off or dismiss making the best decision you could ever make – it will change your life, forever!
