Just One More

Many of us at times can think and wonder and ask ourselves questions like; What am I called to do? Where do I fit in? How do I find my place?  These are all good questions but unfortunately many people get to the end of their lives still asking them.

I believe that we have already been given the answer to these questions and if we understand this, this rest will just fall into place. If you are asking yourself what it is…Jesus gave it to us all.

Matt 28:18-20; the Great Commission says… And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.”

We are all called to be disciples of Jesus and preach the gospel.

A recent Hollywood movie, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, tells the incredible story of a man who made a stand in the face of adversity and intense opposition in World War II to save 75 wounded comrades from a 300-foot escarpment under furious enemy fire, with nothing but a knotted rope.

Desmond Doss was this man who won the Medal of Honour for his heroics.  He was raised a Seventh Day Adventist by his mother, a devout Christian. For his entire life, he practiced the principles with which he was raised; to help others, keep the Sabbath and not to take another human life.  Desmond lived out his faith and beliefs with integrity. He didn’t make compromises — he just walked the walk.

During this moment in history, Desmond cried out to God asking for the strength to rescue ‘just one more’.  The simple prayer he prayed was; ”Just one more Lord, help me get one more.”  This is a powerful prayer for those who wish to see souls saved.

There is a war going on as surely as there was a war on top of Hacksaw Ridge. It is a real war that you and I are in the middle of.  It is a battle over the souls of men.

We are all called to carry out the ‘Great Commission’. This can be done in many different ways.  But if you are not sure where to even start then I would encourage you to live your life as a witness to what Jesus has done for you.  May our prayer be that the Lord would give us strength to help just one more, to tell just one more that Jesus loves them.  May the Lord help us to get one more!
